The Random Text Says: "" Oral Reports Cause Insomnia March 28th, 2002 - 2:12 p.m. I'm Currently Avoiding:Hope I don't make a habit of updating at odd times of the day like this. I'm soooo frigging tired. Someone shoot me. I don't think I had even two hours of decent sleep this morning. Blech. Someone put me out of my misery...please? All I have to say is Thank Heaven it's Thursday. containerize (v. kun-TAY-nuh-ryze) 1 : to ship by containerization 2 : to pack in containers You can probably guess the etymology of containerize quite easily -- it was formed around 1956 by adding -ize to container to create a verb. However, containerize didn't start out with the meaning to put in a container. It originally meant to ship by containerization -- that is, to ship using a method in which a large amount of material is packaged into large standardized containers. The more general pack in containers sense came somewhat later, but it is now the more common sense. These days, for example, you might containerize your trash or your household clutter.
