Wasting My Time By Default
February 7th, 2002 - 12:25 a.m.I'm Currently Avoiding:
Digressions suck. Doing dishes is futile. So is resistance, according to the Borg. Braveheart is a good/bad way to fritter away three & a half hours. Brevity is fun, but it's not working very well. Blargh.
prototype (n. PROH-tuh-type)
1 : an original model on which something is patterned : archetype
2 : an individual that exhibits the essential features of a later type
3 : a first full-scale and usually functional form of a new type or design of a construction (as an airplane)
The prefix prot-, or proto-, comes from Greek and has the basic meaning first in time or first formed. A prototype is someone or something that serves as a model or inspiration for those that come later. A successful fund-raising campaign can serve as a prototype for future campaigns. The legendary Robin Hood, the prototypical kindhearted and honorable outlaw, has been the inspiration for countless other romantic heroes. And for over a century, Vincent van Gogh has been the prototype of the brilliant, tortured artist who is unappreciated in his own time.
Song of the Day: (not anti- btw) "Wasting my Time" by Default. Because that's what I do. I waste my time, by default.
Random Song Note: The beginning of "No More Drama" by Mary J. Blige is the same as the beginning for The Young & the Restless. Which is rather appropriate. At least, I think it is. Maybe the beginning theme for that show has changed, but I think it is. It's just rather strange.
